BumpMesh

BumpMesh by CNC Kitchen is a free browser-based tool for adding real displacement textures to 3D models. It accepts STL, OBJ, and 3MF files and processes them locally in the browser, so model data is not uploaded to a server.

After loading a model, users can choose or upload a displacement map, select a projection mode, and adjust texture height, scale, offset, rotation, smoothing, and masking. A live 3D preview helps tune the result before export.

Useful capabilities include:

  • Multiple projection modes: Triplanar, cubic, cylindrical, spherical, and planar mapping
  • Selective texturing: Exclude top or bottom faces and mask specific surface regions
  • Custom displacement maps: Apply a personal pattern alongside the included texture presets
  • Print-ready exports: Control mesh resolution and output triangle count, then export STL or 3MF

BumpMesh is a practical alternative to a longer Blender or CAD workflow when the goal is simply to add tactile patterns, grip, decoration, or surface detail to an existing printable model.
